As part of the 2026 LASA International Conference, “Republic & Revolution”, François-Xavier Guerra’s book was presented in Paris. Modernity and Independenceis the English version of the classic Modernidad e independencias, one of the first works in the “Latin American Intellectual History Series”a joint initiative of Prismas Ediciones (Center for Intellectual History, National University of Quilmes) and LASA Press. The series is part of the LASA Press collection, “In Translation: Key Books in Latin American Studies,” with a more specific objective: the translation from Spanish into English of works of relevance to the field of Latin American intellectual history.

The launch event, titled "“The Enduring Contribution of Modernidad e independencias by François-Xavier Guerra in a New English Translation”featured Geneviève Verdo, Marcela Echeverri, and Gabriel Entin.
