The Konex Foundation announced the Diplomas of Merit for the 2026 edition in the field of Humanities. Among those honored are three researchers from the Center for Intellectual History: Adrián Gorelik and Elías Palti, in the field of Political, Cultural, and Intellectual History, and Roy Hora, in Economic and Social History.
The jury for this 47th edition of the Konex Awards is composed of twenty distinguished figures and is chaired by Aída Kemelmajer, with Pablo Gerchunoff serving as secretary general and José Emilio Burucúa as a special guest. On this occasion, disciplines related to History were included in the Humanities (until 2014, they were part of the Literary Studies).
In previous editions, researchers from the Center for Intellectual History were also honored, such as Carlos Altamirano (Platinum Konex Award in 2014) and Sebastián Carassai (Diploma of Merit, 2016).
About Distinguished Researchers
Adrián Gorelik He is an architect and holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Buenos Aires. He is a principal researcher at CONICET and served as a tenured professor at the National University of Quilmes until 2024. He serves on the board of directors of Prismas.Revista de Historia Intelectual. Among his books, the following stands out: La grilla y el parque. Espacio público y cultura urbana en Buenos Aires, 1887-1936 (1998) and La ciudad latinoamericana. Una figura de la imaginación social del siglo XX (2022). His research focuses on urban cultural history and the history of ideas, on the cities in Latin America and the relationships between intellectual history, the city, and architecture.
Elías Palti Elias Palti holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, and completed postdoctoral studies at El Colegio de México and Harvard University. He is currently a professor at the National University of Quilmes and the University of Buenos Aires. His publications include, among other books, Aporías. Tiempo, modernidad, historia, sujeto, nación, ley (2001); La nación como problema. Los historiadores y la “cuestión nacional” (2003); La invención de la legitimidad. Razón y retórica en el pensamiento mexicano del siglo XIX (2005).
Roy Hora holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Oxford; he is a senior researcher at CONICET, a full professor at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes, and a professor at the Universidad de San Andrés. His books include Los estancieros contra el Estado (2009) and Historia económica de la Argentina en el siglo XIX (2010). His research focuses on Argentine history from 1850 to 1945, with an emphasis on the economic and political history of social classes.
This is a recognition of their careers and contributions to intellectual, political, and economic history.
About the Konex Awards
The Konex Awards were established in 1980 by Luis Ovsejevich with the aim of recognizing Argentina’s most prominent individuals and institutions in various cultural fields.
The ceremony to award the Diplomas of Merit will take place on September 8 at the Universidad de Buenos Aires (Derecho). Following the presentation of the Diplomas of Merit, the jury will select the leading figures in each discipline, who will receive the Platinum Konex, and the "Konex de Brillante" will be chosen from among them.
