Roy Hora
(Buenos Aires, 1965)

Roy Hora, (PhD, History, University of Oxford) is a Senior Researcher at CONICET and a full professor at the Universidad Nacional de Quilmes. He is also a Senior Lecturer at the Universidad de San Andrés. He has been a member of the editorial committee of Desarrollo Económico. Revista de Ciencias Sociales and Ciencia Hoy, among other scientific publications. Together with Lila Caimari, he directs the Hacer Historiacollection at Editorial Siglo XXI. He is a full member of the National Academy of History. In 2024, he was declared a Distinguished Person in the field of Culture by the Legislature of the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. His books include, The Landowners of the Argentine Pampas. A Social and Political History (2001, Spanish translation 2002); Los estancieros contra el Estado. La Liga Agraria y la formación del ruralismo político en la Argentina moderna (2009), Historia económica de la Argentina en el siglo XIX (2010), Historia del turf argentino (2014) and ¿Cómo pensaron el campo los argentinos? (2018). His latest book, co-authored with Pablo Gerchunoff, is La moneda en el aire. Conversaciones sobre la Argentina y su historia de futuros imprevisibles (2021).

His research examines various topics in Argentine history between 1850 and 1945. He is currently working on the political history of the working classes between 1870 and 1945, and is preparing an essay on Argentine history.
