Ph.D. in History (Indiana University). He is a researcher at CONICET and professor of Foundations of Society and the State at the Universidad de Buenos Aires.. He has been a fellow at the National Humanities Center (United States) and the Fondazione Bogliasco (Italy), and a visiting professor and researcher at various universities abroad, including Harvard, Duke, Barcelona, and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, among others. He is the author of The Argentine Silent Majority. Middle Classes, Politics, Violence and Memory in the Seventies (Duke University Press), whose slightly abridged Spanish version appeared as Los años setenta de la gente común. La naturalización de la violencia (Siglo XXI). He has also published Lo que no sabemos de Malvinas. Las islas, su gente y nosotros antes de la guerra (Siglo XXI), a substantially expanded and updated version of which appears as Beyond the War. Argentines and Islanders in an Unknown Falklands (Cambridge University Press). He is co-editor of Coups d’État in Cold War Latin America, 1964-1982 (Cambridge University Press, 2025). He has received distinctions from Indiana University, the Conference on Latin American History, and the Konex Foundation. He is currently working on a book on the history of the concept of populism in Latin America.
