The Konex Foundation announced the winners of the 2026 awards in the Humanities category, among whom is Roy Hora, a researcher at the Center for Intellectual History, who received the Konex Platinum Award in Economic and Social History.
On the occasion of this awards, we are also pleased to congratulate historical scholar Marcela Ternavasio, who received the 2026 Konex Platinum Award in Political, Cultural, and Intellectual History, a category in which two members of our Center, Adrián Gorelik and Elias Jose Palti, had been awarded the Diploma of Merit in the Humanities. We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate Hugo Vezzetti, a regular contributor to our magazine *Prismas*, who won the 2026 Platinum Konex Award in Psychology. This is undoubtedly a recognition of their careers and contributions to intellectual, political, and economic history.
About Roy Hora
He holds a Ph.D. in History from the University of Oxford, is a principal researcher at CONICET, a tenured professor at the National University of Quilmes, and a professor at the University of San Andrés. His books include Los estancieros contra el Estado (2009) and Historia económica de la Argentina en el siglo XIX (2010). His research focuses on Argentine history from 1850 to 1945, with an emphasis on the economic and political history of social classes. He has been awarded the Platinum Konex Prize in Economic and Social History, along with Gerardo Della Paolera.
About the Konex Awards
The Konex Awards The Konex Awards were created in 1980 by Luis Ovsejevich with the aim of honoring Argentina’s most prominent individuals and institutions in various cultural fields. The 47th edition of these prizes is being held in 2026.
This year’s jury is composed of twenty prominent figures and is chaired by Aída Kemelmajer, with Pablo Gerchunoff serving as secretary general and José Emilio Burucúa as a special guest. This year, disciplines related to history were included in the Humanities (until 2014, they were part of the Humanities and Literature category).
In previous editions, researchers from the Center for Intellectual History were also honored, such as Carlos Altamirano (Platinum Konex Award in 2014) and Sebastián Carassai (Diploma of Merit, 2016).
The awards will be presented at the Konex Awards Closing Ceremony onTuesday, November 3, 2026, in the Auditorium of the UBA School of Law.
