En 1994 Oscar Terán creaba en la Universidad Nacional de Quilmes un programa de investigación sobre “historia de las ideas y análisis cultural” con la finalidad de consolidar como grupo de investigación un equipo que ya venía participando con él en sus diversas empresas en la Universidad de Buenos Aires: la Cátedra de Pensamiento Argentino y Latinoamericano en la Facultad de Filosofía y Letras, y el Seminario de historia de las ideas, los intelectuales y la cultura en el Instituto Ravignani. A poco de andar, el grupo se bautizó como Programa de Historia Intelectual –bajo la inspiración decisiva de Carlos Altamirano– y comenzó a editar la revista Prismas, el anuario de historia intelectual que acaba de publicar su número 18.
Para celebrar estos veinte años de trabajo conjunto, este mismo grupo, aunque ampliado y convertido desde 2012 en Centro de Historia Intelectual, decidió realizar una jornada en la que se pasara revista de lo acontecido en el campo de la historia intelectual durante esas dos décadas, promoviendo una discusión sobre el estado actual de la disciplina en América Latina, y se realizara una exploración crítica de los diversos temas que conforman la obra del fundador del grupo.
Para ello, se organizaron dos mesas. La primera, “La historia intelectual hoy: itinerarios latinoamericanos y diálogos transatlánticos”, con intervenciones de André Botelho, Andrés Kozel y Jorge Myers, y la coordinación de Carlos Altamirano; la segunda, “Oscar Terán, en busca de la ideología argentina y latinoamericana”, con intervenciones de Alejandra Laera, Paula Bruno, Martín Bergel y Sebastián Carassai, y la coordinación de Elías Palti.
Antes de eso, en una brevísima presentación, Adrián Gorelik narró de modo muy sucinto los hechos principales de la actividad del grupo en estos 20 años y Elías Palti dijo unas emocionadas palabras de homenaje a pocos días de la muerte de Tulio Halperin Donghi, el maestro a quien el grupo debe tanto y sin cuya obra, de modo más general, sería difícil imaginar la práctica de la historia intelectual en nuestro país y en América Latina.
Las ponencias de las dos mesas saldrán editadas como dossier en el número 19 de Prismas (2015), pero pueden verse y escucharse desde ahora en los videos anexos.
